Guide to Music City SUP Splash Race

There's a new breed of races in town -- Stand Up Paddle Board Races.  And one the best is just around the corner.  The Music City SUP Splash Race is hitting the Cumberland river Saturday, September 21 for what aims to be a great event for participants and spectators alike.  Take part in the "5K of SUP races" or join friends and family to watch as the elite Paddleboarders go on a 6 mile sprint from the Pedestrian Bridge to the Jefferson St bridge and back a couple of times.  

The event kicks off Friday afternoon with packet pickup and SUP clinics where you can take beginner or advanced lessons at Cooks Recreation Area on Percy Priest Lake from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.  There will be plenty to do and see both Friday and Saturday, so here is what you need to know to take advantage:

Were you outside this weekend?  Spring is officially here and it is in full effect! What'SUP Music City!

Seems like everyone is talking about Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) these days.  We had so many friends posting pictures from their summer vacations on Facebook and talking about what an awesome time they had paddleboarding.  So, it got us wondering, can we find it in Nashville?  Well, yes you can!  

We searched high and low and spoke with several companies around town, but we were most impressed with SUP Music City, owned and operated by veteran SUP’er and surfer, Chip Cathey.  What really set SUP Music City apart from the pack is the depth of experience both Chip and his wife Kelly have in Stand Up Paddleboarding, surfing and more.  They both gained this experience while living out in Hawaii paddling and surfing some righteous waters (sorry – it’s hard not to get carried away with the surfing lingo!)  Their list of accomplishments and experience is too much to ...
