Guide to the Southern Artisan Cheese Festival

Back for its 3rd year, the Southern Artisan Cheese festival is a unique culinary experience in Nashville and draws some of the South's best cheesmakers and artisans.  Staged in historic Germantown in the Neuhoff Building (which is an old Nashville meat packing plant), the event draws hundreds every year and mixes great food, drink, and cheese in a location that is uniquely Nashville. There will be over 19 cheesemakers from six states, over twenty food artisans serving up meats, breads gelato and more, and over twenty-five wine and craft beer makers, including local favorites Yazoo Brewing and Jackelope Brewing who will be serving up a Cheese Fest exclusive brew, Methusalina Milk Stout!

Nashville Farmers Markets are Back!

With Spring in full bloom and here to stay (finally), that could only mean the return of  the numerous Nashville Farmer's Markets all over the city.  Supporting local farmers and getting healthy and delicious farm to table vegetables, beef, cheese and more is a growing Nashville trend.  A few years ago there were only a couple of farmers markets and their size and choices weren't very large.  In 2013, we have numerous options and they continue to grow every year.  They've grown in such popularity that we even have a Nashville Farmers Market Night Market! So we've added them to the ACTIVE Calendar, but wanted to kick off the season in style by giving you an overview of several big one's around town.

ACTIVE Events: Eastside Brew HaHa Festival

Did you know that May 13-19 is Craft Beer week?  To kick off the big week on May 11 from noon to 5pm one of Nashville's most eclectic, festive neighborhoods will be holding an amazing festival, the Eastside Brew HaHa!  Think local food trucks with the best array of food, over 40 breweries with their finest craft beers including Nashville's own Jackelope Brewing and Yazoo Brewing, cheese pairings from East Nashville's own the Bloomy Rind, and musical performances by the Granny WhitesJosh Farrow and the Shelby Bottom String Band!
