Spotlight: What is PiYo?

PiYo seems to be the newest fitness craze that promises to whip you into shape, but how and what does it mean?  PiYo (short for Pilates and Yoga) is a sleek combination of the two exercises and was created by Chalene Johnson, the founder of the Turbo Kick System. PiYo combines the muscle & core building benefits of Pilates with the mind-body, flexibility, and strength advantages of Yoga.  The kicker is that PiYo is composed of non-stop, continuous movements to create a high-energy, high-sweat experience.  

 

A Few Characteristics of PiYo:

Uniqueness:While PiYo does blend together elements of both Pilates and Yoga, it also adds numerous other elements into the workout to provide a unique experience such as dance and martial arts and even utilizes more upbeat music to keep the workouts up-tempo.
