Guide to The 3rd Annual Mayor's Field Day

Guide to The 3rd Annual Mayor's Field Day

Back for the third consecutive year, Mayor's Field Day looks to one-up the success it has garnered during the first two years.  As part of Mayor Karl Dean's campaign to promote active, healthy living, Field Day aims to bring the city together at Titan's Stadium to compete in a series of on-field, group physical fitness games.  This year, the event adds an even greater piece by having one of the Mayor's walking events just prior to the start of Field Day.  Get to the event earlyand at 9:45 you can join the Mayor on a walk around the stadium and be one of the first Nashvillians to march into the stadium, onto the field, and into the games that await.  And after you finish on the field, there will be numerous other activities and attractions to make your day!  From the ACTIVENOW Fitness stage to the Kid's Zone, there is enough in store to keep you occupied all morning.  So here's your guide to the 3rd Annual Mayor's Field Day.

Kicking off the morning will be a 1 mile walk around the stadium with Mayor Karl Dean.  As part of the Mayor's "Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor” and the “Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run”, the walk looks to help everyone kick off the day.  After the quick 1 mile walk, you will actually finish the walk by entering Titan's Stadium directly on the field.  On top of that, participants in the walk will see themselves enter the stadium on the Titan's jumbotron and will be one of the first individuals to compete in the Field Day events.

There are several activities on the field again this year, including some mainstays from year's past as well as some new ones.  Some of the activities for this year's event include:

team trollyTeam Trolley

The on-field activities kickoff with the team Trolley that will quickly unite your teammates in a fun team-building activity. Team members must work together to move the wooden team trolley with rope handles from the start to finish line without falling off. To successfully do this, teammates must work together to move the trolley in unison.

Tire Rolltire roll

A cone course will be set for team members to navigate a car tire through in a figure-eight style. One teammate at a time will roll the tire through the course and back and then pass the tire on to the next team member to compete the tire roll relay as quickly as possible. The relay ends when all ten team members have successfully rolled the tire through the course.

football tossFootball Toss

We’d be remiss to give Nashvillians an opportunity to play where the Titans play without a chance to throw a football while on the field! Team members will work together to successfully throw ten footballs into the target can. Once all ten footballs have made it to the target, team members will cross the finish line as a group to complete the on-field activities.

These are just a three of the activities, but there will be a couple more wildcards thrown in so you'll have to come out to find out what they are!

ACTIVENOW Fitness Stage

Once you get off the field, join us at the ACTIVENOW Fitness Stage again this year! The stage will provide interactive exercise demonstrations from some of the most unique and exciting businesses around the city.  We have another great lineup this year including Zumba, Cardio Kickboxing and Yoga.  Every 30 minutes a new business hits the stage and the crowd can join in the fun.  Back for the third year will be the ElliptiGO's from Push Pedal Pull. This full-size Elliptical/ bike combo has it's own course and has been a hit for the past two years.

Fitness Fair

Again this year will be the Fitness fair.  A gathering of Nashville's active, healthy businesses showcaseing all that is to offer around the city.  Last year there were demonstrations ranging from Paddleboarding from Soulshine SUP to health checks provided by local community providers.  There will be over 30 booths in the fitness fair this year so make sure to check it out and make the rounds.

Kids Zone

Inflatables, games and more are in store for the kids once they get off the field.  Like last year, there will be an entire section devoted to the kids and letting them burn off a little more energy with inflatable bounce houses, slides and more.  There will be games and more as well.

Food & More

Food trucks will line Titan's Way to provide you with several options to fill up after your field events.  Right behind the food trucks you can jump on a bike and cruise on Nashville’s East Bank Greenway.  And just like last year, look for a couple other sections to liven up the day (we have to leave a few surprises for everyone!).

Last year's event was a great success and a lot of fun.  The third year looks to be even bigger and better!  So gather your friends, family and co-workers together and get your team registered! With only a couple of weeks left, this event will be here before you know it so get moving!   For more information on the event, see the event website or register for the event at here.  Not in the competitive mood but still want to get involved, click here to volunteer for the event.  They are looking for as many volunteers as possible!
