Guide to Music City SUP Splash Race

There's a new breed of races in town -- Stand Up Paddle Board Races.  And one the best is just around the corner.  The Music City SUP Splash Race is hitting the Cumberland river Saturday, September 21 for what aims to be a great event for participants and spectators alike.  Take part in the "5K of SUP races" or join friends and family to watch as the elite Paddleboarders go on a 6 mile sprint from the Pedestrian Bridge to the Jefferson St bridge and back a couple of times.  

The event kicks off Friday afternoon with packet pickup and SUP clinics where you can take beginner or advanced lessons at Cooks Recreation Area on Percy Priest Lake from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.  There will be plenty to do and see both Friday and Saturday, so here is what you need to know to take advantage:

Cost: $48 ($58 on race day)

Packet Pick up is 4:00pm-6:45pm  (Park closes at 7pm, anyone after 645 will pick up their race packet Saturday morning at race site between 7-830am.  The race location is downtown at the Cumberland River between the pedestrian bridge and Jefferson street bridge.

The Elite race is 6 miles and starts at 9am with the 2 mile Beginner Race following at 9:30am.  Both races will start under the Pedestrian Bridge and lap down to Jefferson St Bridge (almost an exact mile).  For those racing, a box lunch will be provided while individuals may purchase additional lunches for $8.00 each.  Awards immediately following race in The Bridge Building.


Packet Pick up & Clinic Information

Before the big race, meet up with friends and take in a clinic.  Whether you are a beginner looking to learn the art of SUP or a pro looking to finely tune your skills, there are options for both.  Pre-race packet pickup and clinics will be held at the Cooks Recreation Area.

Pro Clinic: Beginner Stroke Clinic by Reid Nelson. Limit 15 people. $40 (4:15-5pm 90-min)

Pro Clinic: Advanced Stroke Technique by Martin Burzynski. Limit 15 people. $40 (5:15-6pm 90-min)
